How To Apply For A Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) From Overseas

To apply for a TRN from overseas, individuals must fill out a form called the ‘Application for Taxpayer Registration (Individuals) – Form 1’. This form is available on the website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm. To complete the form, individuals will also need to provide a valid form of identification such as a passport or driver’s license that includes their full name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and expiry date. Once completed, the form must be signed by the applicant and mailed, along with a valid copy of their passport or driver’s license that has been notarized by a notary public or certified by a Jamaican consular officer, to the Taxpayer Registration Centre.

It’s important to ensure that the signature on the application for TRN matches the one on the supporting identification. Once the application is received by the centre, the applicant will be assigned a TRN, and an email will be sent with the assigned number. A letter confirming the TRN will be prepared within two weeks and subsequently mailed to the applicant.
